He is best known for being the original wild man of Rock with art rockers Family who topped both album and singles charts in the early 70s. The singles Burlesque, Weavers Answer and In My Own Time gave the band a commercial boost, while the recently re-issued Family album back catalogue on Mystic, has stood the test of time with Fearless and Bandstand still being some of the great albums of our age. A previously unreleased Family Live album also shows the band at the very top of their form. Family called it a day in the early 70s and Chapman Whitney Streetwalkers followed, before Roger Chapman became a huge star in Europe, racking up over a million album sales, and earning the coveted Artist of The Year Award in Germany. Roger was accorded the prestigious Lifetimes Achievement Award For Services to Rock Music on national German TV. Back home his career continues to prosper 25 years after going solo and his career was recently neatly captured on the recent 5 CD box set retrospective Family & Friends.
